Overview

A UI/UX case study completed for Web Design & Usability II. The Focus Photography Club needed an online presence to build awareness, promote events, and attract new members. This project involved designing a visually appealing, accessible landing page with an event calendar — crafted to serve both first-time visitors and returning members.

The Problem

The Focus Photography Club had no online presence, making it difficult to attract new members or keep existing ones informed about upcoming events. The challenge was to design a site that clearly communicates the club's identity, showcases what they offer, and makes event registration and membership feel approachable and inviting.

Style Guide

The visual identity was built around the mood of photography — dark, moody tones balanced with warm accent colours to evoke creativity and community. The palette features Deep Teal (#033744), Sun Glare Lime (#E6FF2B), and Burnt Orange (#E55838), with Inter as the primary typeface. Typography and colour choices were selected to feel editorial yet welcoming across all ages and experience levels.

High-Fidelity Mockups

The desktop layout prioritises a strong hero section with a clear call-to-action, followed by an events calendar, club highlights, and a membership section. The mobile design maintains the same content hierarchy with a stacked, thumb-friendly layout — keeping key actions like joining the club and viewing events prominent on smaller screens.
